Peace and love creative souls! Today's inspiration is a DIY boho wire ring tutorial. I LOVE seizing any opportunity to express myself creatively, especially through processes requiring a high level of concentration, while activating my curiosity and stimulating abstract thought. I also LOVE rings, and when I discovered how to make my own, I just couldn't stop! So, I'm here to share my joy of making wire rings with you, with the intention of inspiring you to create your very own work of art that is a reflection of you. So first, let me give you a few bits of info to get you started on the right track. Let's take a look at the materials you'll need for this DIY jewelry tutorial. Wire: I encourage you to be creative and explore different sizes of wire. In this video, I used 15 inches of 22 gauge wire. The thicker the wire, the less times you have to wrap the wire around the mandrel to create a sturdy band.
Gem: Primarily, I use crystals in my jewelry. Here, the utilitarian concept meets aesthetics. Why not adorn your body with the added metaphysical benefits of crystals coming straight from the Earth? I also use some uniquely designed metal and glass beads, as well as artificial acrylic beads from time to time. Flatter gems work best, and irregular shapes can sometimes pose some difficulty in shaping the ring. Nevertheless, try out different styles and discover what works best for you. Mandrel: This is an essential tool if you plan to make rings for others, however, if you are only making rings for yourself, you can try finding objects around the house that are close to your ring size. For example, you could use the top of a nail polish bottle or a highlighter. Tools: I purchased my tools as a set. They were on sale for $5 and included 5 essential tools. For this wire ring tutorial, you'll need the long nose pliers and the side cutter. The long nose pliers actually have wire cutters built in at the base where the two handles intersect, so if it's all you have on hand, there's no need to purchase additional supplies. Got everything you need? Great! Now, you can check out the video tutorial and dive in! Be sure to share your creations with me on Instagram @thebohemiangem and Facebook. As always, I send you peace, love and inspiration, from my heart to yours! -The Bohemian Gem
